James B. DeMoux's education includes a BA from Brigham Young University, an MA from the University of Montana, and a PhD in Organizational Communication from the University of Colorado.

In his professional career, Jim has been an educator, business owner, trainer, manager, instructional designer and consultant. He started his career as a professor of interpersonal and organizational communication, serving on the faculties at the University of Colorado, Utah State University, and Boise State University.

In 1983 he joined Shipley Associates, where he was a consultant and managed the Consulting Division. In 1990 he formed his owned consulting company, DeMoux & Associates, which he headed until joining Franklin Covey in 1999 as a Senior Consultant and project manager. In 2004 he rejoined Shipley Associates, which acquired the Professional Development Group, and currently heads the Communication Division for PDG.

Jim has developed and taught courses in writing, presentations, competency management, leadership, and supervisory development. He has received awards for excellence in instructional design and interactive teaching skills. The clients with whom he has worked are many and varied, including Fortune 500 firms and major government agencies.
